Doing for a reason with 〜ように
Grammar: Purpose » 〜ように
ように following a plain (dictionary) or ない form of a verb indicates the purpose of or motive for an action. It is similar to “so that” or “in order to” in English.
Examples
Going to school together so as to not get lost with 〜ように
Chiya suggests she and Cocoa go to school together so that(Cocoa) will not get lost.
- 千夜:
- 「ココアちゃんが迷わないように今から学校まで行きましょう」
Training so as to be able to swim with 〜ように
Hearing Rize has never swam before, Cocoa suggests they start special training so thatRizecan swim.
- ココア:
- 「ではこれからリゼちゃんが泳げるように特訓を始めます」
Working hard so as to satisfy customers with 〜ように
After visiting Chiya’s family’s café, Cocoa tells Chino and Rize they need to work hard so thattheir customers will be satisfied.
